Children's Charity Refurbishment

Refurbishment of Team Jak in Aberdeen

Spaces Taylored are proud to support Team Jak in creating their new ‘Den’ in Aberdeen. Team Jak already have a Den in Livingstone and have been providing practical, social and emotional support to children and young people age 0-25 with cancer and related illnesses, their family, friends and those bereaved for the past 9 years.

The charity sector has been hit harder than most in recent years as a result of the pandemic, with many facing funding gaps as government grants and individual donations dried up in the midst of the pandemic so it was vitally important to do all we could to help.

The Project

Spaces Taylored had recently helped with the supply of furniture within Team Jak’s Livingston Den and had been advocators of this amazing charity for some time so, on the strength of this relationship, Team Jak asked the company to help with the creation of an new Den in the Abdereen region as part of there planned expansion across Scotland. Having quoted and successfully won the contract, we then mobilised the same week to begin work. An important element of the project was that we only had a 5 week window to complete all works before their grand opening!

Results

Spaces Taylored undertook an extensive range of internal refurbishment activities, including the construction of stud walls and new doorways, plasterwork, data trunking, re-wiring for lights and fire alarms, fitting new sanitary ware, refitting the kitchens, flooring and decoration.  In the course of the project, Spaces Taylored also created zoned areas inside the main building, dedicated specifically to Under 5’s, Teen Gaming, Communal area, Counselling Room, Arts & Sensory Room as well as an office area. The work was delivered on time and on budget.
